What do you need to know?
Certain establishments are legally obliged to have security measures in place to prevent and monitor potential risks. These establishments must apply for authorisation to open or transfer their business. They must also provide notification of any reforms they carry out (whether essential or non-essential), any change of ownership and the closure of their business.
This procedure can only be completed online. Documentation provided through other channels will not be considered or computed for filing date purposes.
- Banks, savings banks and other credit institutions
- Jewellers and silver/goldsmiths
- Lottery offices and parimutuel betting shops
- Service stations (petrol stations) and oil and fuel supply units
- Art galleries and antique shops
- Casinos, bingo halls (more than 150 players) and arcades (more than 75 machines)
- Night-duty pharmacies

Establishments located in the Barcelona area should address their authorisation applications and notifications of reforms and closure to the Department of Security Administration at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Establishments in other areas should address them to the territorial home affairs services. The contact information for your nearest territorial home affairs bureaux can be found at addresses and telephones.
Notification of the reform must be provided at least one day before it comes into operation.
No fees are levied for this procedure.

The interested person or entity receives a receipt for the submission of the notification form at the moment they send it.

You will receive a digital notification. You can access the content through the e-NOTUM service.
What reply will you receive?
The Government of Catalonia will not issue any subsequent response, notwithstanding that the Ministry of Home Affairs may require the correction of deficiencies in security measures should they later be detected by an inspection.
