What do you need to know?
This license authorizes recreational (non-commercial) fishing in inland waters and in surface marine waters, either from the shore or from a vessel, using any gear permitted for this type of fishing.
There are several categories of recreational surface fishing licenses:
- R5: one-day tourist recreational fishing license.
- R6: two-day tourist recreational fishing license.
- R0: fifteen-day tourist recreational fishing license.
- R1: one-year recreational fishing licesnse.
- R2: two-year recreational fishing licesnse.
- R3: three-year recreational fishing licesnse.
- R4: four-year recreational fishing licesnse.
- M1: one-year catch and reelease recreational fishing license.
- M2: two-year catch and reelease recreational fishing license.
- M3: three-year catch and reelease recreational fishing license.
- M4: four-year catch and reelease recreational fishing license.
- RM: minor recreational fishing license. Free for individuals under 18 years of age. Valid for four years.
- RJ: recreational fishing license for people over 65. Free and valid for four years.
- RD: recreational fishing license for discabled people. It is valid for four years and free for people who provide documentary evidence.
Applications to be processed in person in the city of Barcelona will be handled at the Central Services of the Departament of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Gran Via, 612-614.

The deadline for submitting documentation is 10 working days from the day after the date of application for the license.
The license can be requested through this link.
The correct submission of documentation does not mean that it has been sent in due time.
Applicants must submit the documentation using the documentation submission form, once they have applied for the fishing license for minor or disabled people.
You must have an a recreational fishing license application file, for minor (RM) or disabled people (RD), initiated.

If the provided documents are correct, the Administration will validates the license, but you will not be notified.
If documentation is incomplete or incorrect, you party will be notified to correct any errors or omissions.
Can an appeal be filed?
Yes. An appeal may be lodged with the Director-General for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs within one month from the day following the notification, according with the provisions of Articles 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations.
