What do you need to know?
Tourist accommodation establishments are premises and facilities open to the public where, on a regular basis and in a professional capacity, the owners offer users temporary accommodation in accommodation units, in exchange for payment, together with other tourist services in accordance with the conditions established by the applicable regulations.
Hotel establishments are one of the categories into which tourist accommodation is classified. They are defined as establishments providing temporary accommodation services to tourists in accommodation units (rooms or apartments), either as a single establishment or as a business operating unit, together with the corresponding tourist services.
According to their basic characteristics, they are divided into two groups: hotels and hostels or guesthouses. In addition, establishments within the hotel group are classified into two categories: hotels and apartment hotels. The accommodation service must in all cases include daily cleaning of all accommodation units. In the case of hostels or guesthouses, the accommodation units must always be rooms and may under no circumstances be apartments or studios.
By completing this procedure, the owner initiates the corresponding authorization process, which falls under municipal jurisdiction. Once the applicable municipal fee has been paid, where required, the activity may begin. After the municipal authority has communicated the final authorization details to the tourism administration of the Government of Catalonia, the establishment will be registered in the Tourism Register.
If the establishment has more than 20 available places, before completing this procedure you must request the Preliminary Fire Safety Report and obtain the Fire Safety Inspection Certificate issued by a control body.
This procedure can only be completed online. Any documentation submitted through another channel will not be taken into account or considered valid for the purposes of the submission date.
By completing this procedure, the holder initiates the corresponding authorization process under municipal jurisdiction and may proceed to close the activity. Once the city council has communicated the final details to the tourism administration of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the registration in the Tourism Register will be completed.

This procedure can only be completed online.
You must identify yourself when submitting the form using:
- A digital certificate or idCATMòbil for the individual applicant (self-employed persons).
- A digital certificate of the legal representative of the applicant legal entity (company representative with full powers).
To complete the procedure, you must submit the form and the attached documents, when required.
You will receive an acknowledgment receipt document with a copy of the registration of the submitted form as proof of the procedure. You will also receive an ID code as the identifier of the procedure.

La presentació de la comunicació prèvia faculta l'Ajuntament per verificar la conformitat de les dades que s'hi contenen.
