Deep Tech Ecosystem Empowerment for Regional Transformation
10 European partners participate in the DeepTechValleys project with the aim of promoting and improving 9 regional deeptech innovation policies, a priority on the EU's strategic agenda and recognized for its potential to boost economic growth, create jobs and address global challenges. throughout the European Union.
The deeptech industry works with cutting-edge technologies and scientific advances capable of revolutionizing industries and improving the quality of life of millions of people. Despite their significant potential, EU regions often struggle to fully exploit it, due to challenges in accessing resources, networks and support structures.
The DeepTechValleys project wants to respond to these challenges. By fostering transnational cooperation, the project will enable participating regions to exploit their industrial potential in deeptech and fully improve regional competitiveness and cohesion.
Taking advantage of the diversity of participating regions, the project will facilitate knowledge sharing, capacity building and resource sharing. It will focus on identifying best practices, learning from each other and developing tailored strategies for the improvement of deeptech ecosystems.
The general objective is to transform regions into deeptech valleys, well connected and capable of driving sustainable economic growth, job creation and social progress.
Specifically, ACCIÓ's participation in the project will imply consolidating the deeptech positioning of the Catalan industry in Europe. In this line, it constitutes an excellent opportunity to publicize the potential of the companies that work in our territory.
On the other hand, ACCIÓ will benefit from the good practices and approaches of the participating regions, offering the opportunity to outline the innovation policy aimed at companies working in deeptech with a useful tool to face current and future challenges by companies.
The deeptech industry is in an environment that has experienced upward growth in recent years. According to the report Analysis of the deeptech startup ecosystem in Catalonia, 2023 (.PDF document) published by ACCIÓ, 2022 is the year with the highest volume of investment captured by Catalan deeptech startups for a value of 183 million euros, and until October 2023 they have been captured 106 million.
