What do you need to know?
In order to exhibit, earn money from or promote a film in Catalonia or Spain – both in formats suitable for exhibition in cinemas and those which are not – its classification by the Catalan Institute for the Cultural Enterprises (ICEC) must have been obtained, in accordance with the criteria set by Spanish legislation.

It is possible to apply at any time. Nevertheless, it should be remembered that classification must have been obtained before exhibiting, earning money from or promoting a film.

How and when notifying the award of the qualification?The management of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries (ICEC) notified the granting of the qualification within two months from the filing of the application. The lack of an express decision deemed to take effect from the rating given by the applicant.
What to do after receiving the certificate of qualification?In the case of works intended to be exhibited in cinemas every copy that is distributed must be accompanied by a copy of the certificate qualifying the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries (ICEC) delivered to the distributor. However, with respect to works intended for sale or distribution not film, must appear on each copy and in the case so conspicuously resolution number, title of the work, the qualifying age, duration, the distribution company and the authority has approved the qualification.
