The commitment to a new energy model and the denuclearisation of Catalonia necessitates a just transition that leaves no territory behind. The impact of the closure of the power plants means the disappearance of direct jobs and affects the economic fabric of the municipalities that surround them.

The Nuclear Transition Fund's business grants are a key tool to promote the development of a new production model with high added value in the municipalities affected by the closure of nuclear plants. They have the following aims:

Reinforcement of the local economy
Job creation and talent retention
Diversification of the business fabric
Rural and environmental development of the territory and the fight against depopulation
Progress towards a fairer and more sustainable energy transition

Who are the Nuclear Transition Fund Grants aimed at?

The Business Grants of the Nuclear Transition Fund (FTN), which are sourced from 50% of the income from the tax on the activities of production, storage and transformation of electrical energy of nuclear origin, are aimed at municipalities located less than 30 km from the Vandellòs and Ascó nuclear power plants. Specifically, 96 municipalities in 8 districts.

What are the lines of action for the grants?

Subsidies for business investment projects

Subsidies for business investment projects regarding fixed assets that involve the creation of a new establishment, the incorporation of a new activity by the company, an expansion of production capacity or an improvement in the production process.

Grant intensity: between 10% and 60%, depending on the size of the company and the European regime it is covered by.

Maximum amount: €300,000 *

Budget: €22,900,000
Subsidies for job creation projects

Subsidies for job creation projects involving a minimum of 3 new jobs.

Grant intensity: 50%

Maximum amount: €300,000 *

Budget: €4,000,000
Subsidies for growth projects and new business opportunities

Subsidies for growth projects and new business opportunities:

Structural change line
Talent recruitment line

Grant intensity: between 10% and 75%, depending on the type of expense and the size of the company.

Maximum amount: €31,000 for strategic change, €210,000 for structural change and €201,000 for talent recruitment.

Subsidies for cooperative projects

Subsidies for cooperative projects, between companies and support agents to improve sectoral competitiveness.

Grant intensity: 75%

Maximum amount: €150,000

Budget: €2,000,000
Subsidies for high added value entrepreneurial projects

Subsidies for high-value-added entrepreneurial projects, including actions related to the development of the business plan of the high-value-added emerging company in its initial phases.

Grant intensity: 100%

Maximum amount: €50,000

Budget: €600,000
Subsidies for technological innovation projects

Subsidies for technological innovation projects, close to the market, with medium/low technological risk and short investment recovery periods (with TRLs 7-9), which promote technological, digital and green transformation of companies.

Grant intensity: 75%

Maximum amount: €150,000

Budget: €4,000,000
