Technological capabilities
The center's technological capabilities focus on surface modification, in particular thermal spray. Conventional techniques such as Flame-Spray, Arc-Spray, Air Plasma Spray, High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel, and the latest thermal spray technologies such as Cold Spray are available with 2 different sets of high-pressure equipment and 2 sets of low-pressure portable equipment.
CPT is also equipped with materials and coating characterization techniques, as well as everything necessary to guarantee the specific characterization of the products obtained (unique in the entire country). In addition, the facility has a range of electrochemical equipment made up of galvanostats/potentiostats that allow a wide variety of techniques, from those requiring very low intensities to those requiring potentials of hundreds of volts.
Finally, the group is also equipped with equipment for the development of new materials for high-dust processes and mechanical alloying with a planetary mill and attritor, as well as ultrasonic dispersion and sieves and everything necessary for their characterization. Recently, the group has been advancing projects in the area of energy, additive manufacturing, the circular economy and new materials with projects for components for electrolyzers, metallization of polymers and composite materials, repair and additive manufacturing through cold spray, new two-dimensional materials and high entropy alloys.

Cold spray equipment is a very unique facility and having two different suppliers makes this facility unique in the region.
From a characterization point of view, there is a technique developed in the group, jet erosion test (jet erosion) that cannot be found in other institutions and that can provide key information for wind turbine components.
