Artificial Intelligence Research Institute

The IIIA-CSIC is the main CSIC center engaged in research in Artificial Intelligence in Spain, with three main lines:

1. Multi-agent systems: Develops methods and models for interaction between agents, including cooperation, coordination, negotiation and reputation. It also works on mechanisms for establishing social behaviors, ontological reasoning in open systems, and agent-oriented software engineering.
2. Learning Systems: It designs and develops machine learning algorithms and models, such as probabilistic graphical models, Case-Based Reasoning, Transfer Learning and Deep Learning. It applies these methods to social networks, music, robotics, multi-agent systems, bioinformatics and health.
3. Logic and Reasoning: It mathematically models reasoning in AI, with a focus on logics for incomplete information. It also designs algorithms for satisfaction and optimization problems using SAT, constraints and metaheuristics.
