Technological capabilities
The center’s technological capabilities can be summarized in the following contributions that can be transferred to the business sector:
- Development of electrochemical sensors for the detection of microorganisms and toxic organic vapors.
- Development of polymeric systems that release drugs or substances of interest for the biotechnology and agricultural industry.
- Tissue systems that provide multifunctionality and biocompatibility.
- Protection against corrosion.
- Design of tests to evaluate the structural integrity of materials in real service conditions that can be applied to structures for industrial use, such as welded structures and new applications that involve rusting and corrosion at high temperatures.
- Microstructural optimization of hard materials based on the evaluation of their mechanical integrity.
- Development of advanced ceramics and multilayer composites for both ambient and high temperature applications, including fuel cell technology.
- Micromechanical design of hard coating/substrate systems to improve the tribological performance of engineering components.
