The IQS Tech Transfer Medi Ambient agent has the SGR GESPA and SGR CONHATIVE groups. The GESPA group combines chemical engineering, biotechnology and chemical analysis to address challenges such as climate change, decarbonization, water scarcity and sustainability. Its research includes greenhouse gas mitigation, water reuse, circular economy, and analysis of emerging pollutants. It also has a laboratory for the analysis of contaminants such as dioxins, microplastics and cyanotoxins. The CONHATIVE group, headed up by Dr. Belén Derqui, focuses on sustainability and food waste.

Technological capabilities
- Circular Economy and Sustainability: research into new technologies for the recovery and recycling of gases and waste, such as the capture and conversion of CO₂ and water treatment, using radiofrequency reactors, photoreactors and process simulators.
- Environment: analysis of persistent contaminants in environmental and food matrices, with equipment such as HRGC-HRMS and GC-MS.
- Microbiology studies pathogenic microorganisms and resistance through molecular biology. IQS collaborates with SCIEX DEMO LAB, which uses high-resolution mass spectrometry for sample analysis in chemistry, biopharmacy and biotechnology.
