
The Human Environment Research (HER) Group focuses its research on establishing new forms of relationships between people and technology. Through emerging technologies, it seeks to respond to societal challenges in areas such as health, well-being, education, culture and entertainment. This group includes the following lines of research: acoustics and audio, interaction, computer vision, speech processing, animation and digital arts, technologies for education, architectural representation technologies and Mediterranean architecture.

La Salle HER’s technological offer is conditional upon the technologies targeted for study by each particular line of research and their ability to resolve complex problems in companies through their application.
The common denominator of these technologies is the integration of artificial intelligence via machine learning, neural networks, computer vision and/or natural language processing. Acoustics and audio technologies associated with sensors; acoustic signal processing; vibro-acoustics; human-computer interaction; speech processing; computer vision; technologies applied to improving education; care and educational robotics; animation and digital arts focused on virtual reality; augmented reality, video games and immersive experiences; BIM-based architectural representation.

La Salle HER boasts three unique spaces:
- IOTICAT, an 1800 m² open innovation laboratory devoted to human-environment interaction with the Internet of Things, the Àgora room, 10 co-creation rooms, prototyping and 3D printing laboratories and a co-working area.
- IASLAB, 2800 m² in size, includes laboratories for digital and immersive technologies applied to art, health and entertainment, with an immersive room, a VFX set and an anechoic chamber.
- Techova Barcelona, a space that accelerates technological startups and promotes business innovation.
