LEQUIA is a research group at the UdG engaged in the development of eco-innovative solutions in the field of the environment. The research lines are: 1) water purification and treatment processes, 2) gas treatment and CO2 bioconversion, and 3) digitalization and application of artificial intelligence to the water cycle.

Technological capabilities
- Development of innovative processes for the purification and treatment of urban and industrial wastewater, both centralized and decentralized. Water purification: ozonation, coagulation, oxidation and study of disinfection byproducts. Purification: partial nitrification-anammox, membrane filtration (bioreactors, direct/reverse osmosis), bioelectrochemical systems, nature-based solutions and struvite precipitation.
- Gas treatment and CO2 bioconversion using adsorption processes for capture and purification, electro-microbial technologies and fermentation to convert CO2 into biofuels and other value-added products.
- Digitalization and AI in the urban water cycle: decision support systems (EDSS); integration of AI, modeling and control to optimize processes. Cross-cutting approach: technical, economic and environmental assessment; life cycle analysis; and social sciences to improve planning and management.
