Technological capabilities
The MTG combines scientific, technological and artistic methodologies to understand, model and generate sound and music signals, with the aim of contributing to several strategic areas with a significant social and economic impact, such as:
- Artistic creation: Developing tools to enhance people’s creativity.
- Cultural preservation: Striving to understand, gain access to and preserve the sound and musical heritage of our world.
- Music education: Developing technologies to support and enhance the learning of music.
- Health and well-being: Investigating how technologies can promote the personal and social benefits of music.
- Sustainable development: Creating methodologies to describe and preserve our sound environment.
The MTG has several technologies available to third parties for their industrial exploitation, such as the Essentia library (a collection of algorithms for the analysis, description and synthesis of audio and music) and Freesound.org (a sound repository equipped with technologies to optimize accessing and searching for content).
