The Semiconductor and Chip Alliance of Catalonia is a public-private initiative to bring together the stakeholders this ecosystem with the aim of leading its transformation and consolidation in Europe. The Alliance has the participation of different departments of the Generalitat, in addition to public and private entities who collaborate in promoting the ecosystem and industrialization of chips and semiconductors.
The Semiconductor and Chip Alliance of Catalonia initiative focuses on five strategic axes:
- Having a stronger chip value chain in Catalonia
- International connections
- Investment in infrastructure and production
- Fostering talent
- Technological transfer
Altogether, the aim is to achieve a competitive, innovative and sustainable economy by promoting the growth and consolidation of the semiconductor, microelectronic, photonic and quantum ecosystem in Catalonia.
The Alliance was founded for the purpose of becoming a space for collaboration in order to incorporate, involve and connect the companies and agents of the industry's entire value chain. In addition, it represents an opportunity to give its members access to support and funding tools; to new business opportunities and cooperation; to talent; to infrastructures and to potential local and international partners and collaborators. The Semiconductor and Chip Alliance of Catalonia initiative is promoted by the Department of Business and Work, which acts as chair, and ACCIÓ provides technical and administrative support the development of the functions of the Alliance. On the other hand, the Department of the Economy and Finance and the Department of Research and Universities also play an active part.
