What do you need to know?
Corresponding authorisation is required to carry out activities in the areas included in the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN). Activities requiring authorisation are those related to:
- Camping, overnight stays and summer camps.
- Access to restricted road network.
- Manned and unmanned aerial activities (including drones).
- Research activities.
- Educational, training, artistic and recreational activities.
- Sports competitions and other types of event.
- Use of natural resources (except hunting and fishing resources).
- Bathing outside designated bathing areas.
- Mountain bike activities.
- Organised motorised traffic.
- Creating or modifying signposted circuits or routes, whether equestrian, cycling or other.
- Regulated climbing.
- Caving.
- Water sports (river, sea, lakes, etc.).
- Setting up or improving a climbing route or via ferrata.
- Organised or commercial collective leisure, sporting and adventure activities.
- Production of films, adverts and documentaries and photographic reports.
- Passenger transport for tourism and leisure purposes.
- Any other activity covered by the regulations of the Area of Natural Interest.
Activities that include:
- Filming wildlife outside the areas included in the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest require an Authorisation for the Observation and Graphic and/or Visual Recording of Wildlife Species.
- Climbing and other activities within the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park require an Authorisation for Activities and Services of the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park.
- For diving licences or boat mooring within the Medes Islands Partial Marine Nature Reserve require an Services related to diving and other recreational activities in the Medes Islands Partial Marine Nature Reserve.
This procedure may only be carried out in person if you are a private individual.
If you are an obligated subject, you can only do it online. The documentation you provide through another channel will not be taken into account or computed for the purposes of the submission date.
An application must be submitted for each activity.
Any person, company or organisation that carries out or promotes the activity in the areas included in the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest managed by the Ministry.

The deadlines are set by administrative procedure legislation or, where applicable, by specific applicable law.
It is advisable to submit the application for the authorisation of sporting events six months in advance.
Those wishing to obtain authorisation to transport passengers for tourism or leisure purposes in La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park should submit an application or contact the Natural Park at least five months before the planned date of the activity.
The deadline established for the Cap de Creus Natural Park is three months, in accordance with the provisions of article 21.3 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations. Filming and photographic reports are excepted, with specific regulations, and which are subject to public prices (Order TES/79/2018, of June 20, which approves public prices for the provision of services in the natural spaces of special protection). Once the request is made, an invoice will be issued that must be paid before authorization is obtained. Due to the volume of requests received by the Park, we recommended you to process the request at least one month before the activity takes place.
In Cap de Creus Natural Park, commercial filming or photo shoots are subject to public fees (Order TES/79/2018, of 20 June, approving public fees for the provision of services in natural areas under special protection). Once the application has been submitted, an invoice will be issued and must be paid before authorisation is obtained. In addition, the request must be received by the Park at least one month before the activity is to take place.
For authorisation of other activities, it is advisable to submit the application as soon as possible.

The activity must comply with the criteria for the conservation of the site and the accounting of human activities established by the site’s management body.

The area managing body sets a fee in line with the current order approving public fees for the provision of services in natural areas under special protection.

This application does not provide exemption from applying for any other authorisation necessary to carry out the activity.
The activity may not be publicised until authorisation is obtained from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The Natural Park may establish the amount of deposit to be paid depending on the nature of the activity and, in all cases, the amount that the organisers must pay for the maintenance and improvement of the paths. The deposit will be returned to the promoters within a maximum period of ten days after obtaining certification that no damage has been caused. Should there be any such damage, the promoters will be required to repair it within a reasonable time; if not, the deposit will be used to carry out the required actions.

The government body will send you an email stating that you have an electronic notification, which you may access:

- idCAT Mòbil (requires prior registration)
- one-time password: requiring the tax ID number (NIF/CIF) of the notification addressee and the telephone number or email address provided to the Generalitat as contact details. This information is included in the notification email. If you do not find the message in your inbox, please check your spam folder
- in the “Electronic notifications” section or the Canal Empresa website, using:
- digital certificate for the tax ID number (NIF/CIF) used for the procedure
- idCAT Mòbil (requires prior registration)
- one-time password: you need the previously provided tax ID number (NIF) and the email address or mobile phone number to access the notification
- in the “Private area” personal space in the gencat Procedures or the Canal Empresa websites, using:
- digital certificate for the tax ID number (NIF/CIF) used for the procedure
- idCAT Mòbil (requires prior registration)
- one-time password: you need the tax ID number (NIF) you provided and the email address or mobile phone number to access the notification
You have 10 calendar days to accept the notification once it has been issued. If you have not accessed the notification within this period, it will be considered rejected.
The moment you access the content of the notification, it will be considered to have been carried out.
If you are a private individual and have not asked to interact electronically with the government body, you will also receive notification at the postal address given on the application form, in addition to the electronic notification.
Receiving the government body’s response
If one month has passed since the submission of the application for any of the authorisations regulated by Decree 148/1992, and it has not been granted, the application shall be deemed to have been rejected.
