What do you need to know?
Shipping companies that represent shipowners on matters involving berthing, cargo and passage in a commercial port run by Ports de la Generalitat must be entered in this register.
This procedure can only be done online. Documents provided via another channel will not be taken into account or considered for the purposes of the submission date.

This procedure may be requested at any time.

- Documentary evidence of the type of company (memorandum of association, NIF, power of attorney, DNI, etc.).
- Contact person’s details (telephone, fax and email).
- Self-declaration confirming that the company is entered in the Shipping Agents Register for the purposes of business tax, if applicable.
- Payment of the security deposit specified under ‘Requirements’.
- If the vessels are used for the purpose of tourist cruises or loading and unloading cargo, an explanatory statement must be provided, providing information on:
- the shipping companies or shipowners that the company represents, indicating the routes if they operate a regular service;
- the itinerary;
- the category of vessels and of service;
- any specific features that affect maritime traffic or trade;
- frequency and membership of the sectoral conference.
clearance of tramp vessels and any stevedoring companies they may hire for cargo-handling services;
- In the case of pleasure boats, a list of ports where they are expected to dock.
In addition, the shipping company undertakes to notify Ports de la Generalitat immediately of any changes affecting the above that may occur after the application for entry in the register is submitted.

Pay a security deposit into the Generalitat’s Caixa General de Dipòsits (General Deposit Fund) for the department responsible for economic and financial matters, at Ports de la Generalitat’s disposal:

for tourist cruises or for the loading and unloading of goods, every company must pay in a security deposit at the disposal of Ports de la Generalitat, in any of the forms permitted by law, of EUR 30 050.61;

for representing leisure vessels of more than 24 metres in length (super yachts), the security deposit will be set at 5% of the turnover of the previous calendar year, and at a minimum of EUR 6 010.12.

No other fees are associated with this procedure.

If you are signing the form as a legal person, you must use a digital certificate for representation (or be registered in the electronic register for representation). If you are signing on your own behalf, you must have an idCAT Mobil or a digital certificate. -

When will you receive a reply from the Administration?
The Administration has a maximum of 3 months from the date on which the application was submitted to make a decision and notify the applicant as to whether authorisation is being granted. If no decision has been given after this period has elapsed, the application will be deemed to have been tacitly rejected.How is the reply sent?
The Authority will send you an e-mail or an SMS, in accordance with the information provided in the application, indicating that you have received an electronic notification which you can access:- from the link provided in the e-mail, using:
- the digital ID/TIN certificate used to file the application;
- a one-time password. In order to access the e-mail notification, you need the ID/TIN of the person receiving the notification and the telephone number or e-mail address that were given to the Generalitat as contact details. This information is given in the notification e-mail. If you do not find the message in your inbox, please check your spam folder.
- Under ‘Online notifications’ or via Canal Empresa, using:
- the digital ID/TIN certificate used to file the application;
- one-time password: to be able to access the notification, you need the e-mail or telephone number and the TIN you provided when notified.
- From the ‘Private area’ of Canal Empresa, using:
- the digital ID/TIN certificate used to file the application;
- a one-time password: to be able to access the notification, you need the email or telephone number and the TIN you provided when notified.
From the date of sending the notification, you have 10 calendar days to accept or refuse it. If you do not access the notification within this period, it will be deemed to have been refused.
Once the content of the notification has been accessed, it will be deemed to have been finalised (completed).
Can an appeal be lodged?
An appeal against the decision may be addressed to the chair of Ports de la Generalitat within 1 month from the day following receipt of the notification, in accordance with Article 76 of Law 26/2010 of 3 August on the legal and procedural arrangements of the public administrations of Catalonia, and Articles 111(1), 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015 of 1 October on the common administrative procedure of public administrations, without prejudice to any other legal remedy that may be considered appropriate and still leaving the opportunity for an administrative review open. - from the link provided in the e-mail, using:
