What is it?

Are considered Catalan Communities Abroad the associations, foundations and other nonprofit entities, legally constituted outside Catalonia, by catalan or catalanophyl people who aim to promote Catalonia and support the catalonian community residents outside the catalan territory.

This official recognition is carried out according to the Government, with the previous request of the interested parties to the Secretariat for Foreign Affairs and the European Union.

The Secretariat for Foreign Affairs and the European Union is responsible for the registration in the registry office of the Catalan cultural center, federations and confederations recognized by the Government.

A Catalan cultural center can become beneficiary of the services provided when previously been recognized as such.

A Catalan Communities Abroad who want to be recognized by the Government of Catalonia (associations, and other legal foundation, nonprofit, legally constituted outside Catalonia).

Deadlines

It can be applied for at any time.

Documentation

Documentation to be included with the application:

  1. Original of the cultural centre's by-laws (or photocopy with the corresponding accreditation that it is a true copy of the original, in accordance with the Government of Catalonia's guidelines on authentic copies of documents and certifications of documents, or in accordance with any other legally admissible means).
  2. Certification of the agreement adopted by the entity's general meeting to request recognition as a Catalan cultural centre.
  3. Certificate accrediting the entity's legalisation in the territory where it is established. If the processing of this legalisation is not expected, this requirement may be fulfilled by providing documentation accrediting it.
  4. Certificate of the number of members of the entity.
  5. Informational report on the activities already carried out by the cultural centre and those planned in the future.
Requirements

For their official recognition, the Catalan cultural centres must accredit their compliance with the following requirements:

  1. The certified constitution and recognition in accordance with the legal ordinances of the state(s) where these are carried out.
  2. The inclusion, amongst the basic objectives of the by-laws and with a demonstrated desire from the members, to maintain cultural, social, and economic ties with Catalonia, its people, its history, its language, and its culture, as well as with any other aspect of its national reality or with the plurality of democratic proposals to include it in the by-laws in the future.
  3. The internal structure, organisation, and operation, in accordance with democratic criteria.
  4. The Catalan cultural centres may found federations and confederations in order to defend and integrate their interests and facilitate the joint compliance and coordination of the aims and the objectives they have in common.
Fees

No fees are associated with this procedure.

Other information

The CCE is public record and can be granted if requested in writing beforehand, registration certificates and copies of statutes. You can also edit a list stating all CCE, federations and confederations inscribed with the name and address of the entity and the name of its legal representative.

CCAs can form federations and confederations to defend their interests and to integrate and facilitate joint and coordinated implementation of the aims and objectives they have in common.

    The entities must present a document indicating the name and surnames of the person, the facts, and the reasons for the request, together with the address where they wish the responses from the Administration be sent, the place and date, the signature of the person making the request, and the name and body the request is addressed to, as explained in article 70 of Law 30/1992, of 26 November. This document must be signed by the legal representative of the entity and must contain the name of the representative and the name and address of the entity.

     1. If the documentation is correct, the recognition of the Community shall be placed in a government agreement to be published in DOGC, which will be communicated to the organization. The procedure is considered completed once the registration has been made in the registry.
     2. If you lack some type of documentation, the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the European Union will request the appropriate documentation to the organization.
