Les productores catalanes que realitzin pel·lícules amb productores estrangeres hauran de presentar prèviament el projecte de coproducció a l’ICEC, Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals, per a la seva aprovació.
Un cop aprovat el projecte, tindrà la consideració de film de nacionalitat espanyola i podrà accedir als diferents ajuts disponibles per a la cinematografia catalana i espanyola, sempre en proporció amb la seva inversió en el film.

How and when are applicants notified of awarding of a classification?
The management of the Catalan Institute for the Cultural Industries (ICIC) notifies applicants of the awarding of a classification within two months of submission of the application. If no response is given, the classification suggested by the applicant company shall be deemed to have been accepted.What is to be done once certification of the classification is received?
In the case of films for the cinema, each copy distributed must be accompanied by documentary evidence of the classification given to the distributor by the Catalan Institute for the Cultural Industries (ICIC). In the case of films for non-cinematic distribution, both the copy of the film itself and the case must clearly display the decision number, the title of the film, its classification in age groups, the duration, the distribution company and whichever authority has approved the classification.
Furthermore, during the months of July and January each year, the number of copies in non-cinematic formats that have been sold during the previous six-month period. This must follow the standardised format:
