What do you need to know?
Companies may ask the Catalan Institute of Medical Evaluations (ICAM) to review the situation of workers who are on STD pursuant to Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015 of 23 October enacting the recast text of the Workers’ Charter Act and the Order of 21 March 1974 regulating some of the duties of the Social Security health services inspectorate in the area of medical statements of fitness for work.
This procedure can only be performed online. Any documentation you provide by other channels will not be considered and will not have any validity for the purpose of determining the date of submission.

Companies with employees.
These companies and individuals that are engaged in business or professional activities or are sole proprietors or self-employed individuals are required to use electronic means of communication with government agencies to carry out any administrative procedure under section 14(2) of Act 39/2015 of 1 October (BOE no. 236 of 2 October 2015) and ORDER PDA/20/2019 of 14 February (DOGC no. 7814 of 20 February).
This procedure can be requested at any time.
Documents that must be submitted to start the procedure
- Document confirming the employment relationship between the applicant (self-employed individual) and the worker.
- Other documents, if necessary.
Complementary information
The application does not need to be accompanied by any specific documentation unless you are a self-employed worker in which case the contractual relationship of the person whose review is requested must be proven and attached.
There is an attachment called “Other documentation”, where you can attach any additional documentation you consider necessary
The requirements for making the application are as follows:
-The employee must be on short-term disability (STD) due to a non-work-related accident or disease.
-The application must be submitted by the company or its legal representative.
There are no fees for this procedure
If you have several workers to be reviewed, you will need to make a separate application for each person.
The person who signs the submission must be the legal representative of the company, and so the details entered on the form must therefore match the details on the certificate of the person signing the submission.

The ICAM assesses the application and where necessary arranges a meeting with the worker as part of its schedule of visits.
Once the review has been completed, it notifies the company of the result in its folder. The result of the review will be reported by electronic notification.
You can log in to view it using a digital certificate or a single-use password. See which certificates are accepted.
How do I get the reply?
You will receive the response via an electronic notification placed in the e-NOTUM notifications portal. You have 10 calendar days from the date the notification is placed to accept or reject it. If you have not checked the notification after this timeframe, it will be understood as rejected. From the time you access the content of the notification, it is considered effective.
You can check the electronic notifications from any of these channels:
- From the link in the notice that you receive at the email or mobile phone you listed on the application.
- From the Electronic notifications
- From the Private Area of Canal Empresa.
You an access it via digital certificate, idCAT Mòbil or a single-use code. If you do so via the Private Area, you have to previously identify yourself with idCAT Mòbil or a digital certificate.
