The Alt Pirineu and Aran business fabric comprises over 3,500 companies and focuses mainly on the hotel, trade, building, manufacturing industries, agriculture and livestock sectors. Most of the businesses are small family firms with an entrepreneurial capacity and strong commitment to the local area. Food and agriculture is a prominent sector across the six counties.
Emerging products include organic beef and lamb and the production of craft wine and beer. Internationalisation is related to the largest companies and cooperatives in the food, electricity and forestry sectors. Major international markets are France, Andorra and the rest of Europe.
The Alt Pirineu and Aran office is run by David Torrelles, with specialised postgraduate training in business, marketing and sales management from EUNCET-UPC and an executive MBA from ESIC. His career path has focused on business management duties and commercial and sales management in companies, including Vivendum and LIDL.
