The economic fabric of Terres de l’Ebre presents a highly diversified structure. The industrial sector is well-established and covers a large variety of activities, especially in the food industry, with sectors such as food and agriculture and meat; the packaging industry and the chemicals industry. It also boasts an important primary sector, distinguished by the production of rice, oil, wine and sweet and citrus fruits.
Internationalisation has grown in recent years. The most important outbound markets are France and central Europe, with a large volume of exports also going to the United States. Although the business fabric largely comprises SMEs and micro-enterprises, there is also an important number of well-established large enterprises and multinational companies.
