The technological boost for major innovative and sustainable ideas

If you have a new high-risk tech product or service in mind, Business enterprise R&D nuclei are the tool you need to fulfill it. Through these grants you can receive up to 250,000 euros in non-returnable funds to develop a different project and tackle the challenges of the technology and green transformation.

Present times mean that companies cannot stop. Technologically developing new products or service, improving the use of waste or developing activities to mitigate the effects of climate change are essential to ensure companies remain competitive.

These are some of the goals of the new Nuclei that are being introduced with three lines of aid to turn your most innovative and sustainable ideas into a reality: the R&D nuclei to promote technological projects, the Circular economy R&D nuclei in waste and the R&D nuclei in Climate change.

R&D nuclei are grants aimed at Catalan companies wishing to develop new products, processes or services of a high technological risk. Aspects such as the technological quality of the project, collaboration among companies or players of the R&D system or the generation of employment are valued, among others.

The general requirements for applying for the grant are:

Companies must have the technical capacity to carry out the R&D activity.
The beneficiaries of the grant are companies established in Catalonia or accredited TECNIO technology developers.
In the case of cooperation projects, you must take part with other local or international companies or accredited TECNIO agents.
Companies must have been established more than two years ago. Your financial feasibility should be validated using the Financial self-assessment.

What do they offer?

The Circular Economy Business R&D nuclei are the opportunity to develop new research and development projects related to waste in order to begin new processes in the company or improve existing ones using technological innovation.

These R&D nuclei are grants of up to 150,000 euros to develop projects in the production process of the applying company or to be implemented in another company.

The grants are aimed at projects with a minimum budget of 150,000 euros and the subsidy rate will be between 25% and 70%.

This call is implemented along with the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (Waste Agency of Catalonia - ARC) to help increase investment in R&D into waste in Catalonia.

The Circular economy R&D nuclei are grants aimed at companies established in Catalonia. Aspects such as the technological quality, the implementation and the impact of the project are valued. The general requirements for applying for the grant are:

The projects must be located in Catalonia and must be relate to the generation or management of waste and involve a clear technological.
The projects must be included in all the cross-cutting sectors and technologies identified in the specialization strategy RIS3CAT.
Companies must have the capacity to develop R&D projects and must have been established at least four years ago. Your financial feasibility should be validated using the Financial self-assessment.

What do they offer?

The climate change R&D nuclei help companies develop R&D projects to solve and improve the effects of the climate emergency.

The maximum subsidy for this line will be 250,000 euros for projects related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: the development of sustainable materials, improvements to the water cycle, advances in renewable energies or the implementation of initiatives in sustainable mobility, among others.

The grants are aimed at projects with a minimum budget of 120,000 euros,

This call is implemented along with the Oficina Catalana del Canvi climàtic (Catalan Climate Change Office - OCCC) to help increase investment in R&D into the climate emergency in Catalonia.
